Self-hosted

A personal cloud built on real infrastructure

NB Cloud is Nick Bottini's homelab — a Proxmox cluster running dozens of self-hosted apps for files, photos, media, productivity, and more. Access is invite-only; services are shared with friends and family who need them.

How to get access

NB Cloud is not an open signup platform. Submit a request, Nick reviews it, and approved users receive an email invitation to set up a single sign-on account. You then see only the services you were granted.

Step 1

Fill out the form at access.nbottini.com — pick the services you need.

Step 2

An admin reviews your request (usually within a day or two).

Step 3

Accept the invitation email, set a password + MFA, and open your app hub.

Your data is protected

Photos, files, and app data on NB Cloud are not a single-disk gamble. Storage is split so everyday user data and system backups each have their own path — including an automated offsite copy.

On-site primary storage

Nextcloud files, Immich photos, and other bulk data live on TrueNAS with ZFS. App disks sit on replicated Ceph across the Proxmox cluster.

Daily system backups

Proxmox Backup Server snapshots VMs and containers on a schedule so services can be restored after hardware failure or misconfiguration.

Offsite copies

Bulk libraries and PBS backups sync to Cloudflare R2 object storage — a separate failure domain from the home rack (fire, flood, theft, or total site loss).

Access controls

Invite-only accounts, Authentik single sign-on with MFA, and per-service grants. You only see what Nick approved for you.

Infrastructure

Everything runs on bare-metal Proxmox nodes with distributed storage, automated backups, and monitoring — not a VPS or shared host.

Proxmox VE cluster

Three-node hypervisor cluster running LXCs and VMs with High Availability failover.

Ceph + TrueNAS

Replicated block storage for apps; ZFS NFS for photos, Nextcloud, and other bulk user data.

PBS + Cloudflare R2

On-site Proxmox backups plus automated offsite sync of system images and bulk libraries.

Edge & identity

Cloudflare Tunnel ingress, Authentik SSO, NPMplus reverse proxy, and Pi-hole DNS.
